We need to take domestic abuse as seriously as national security

Of the ten years I spent working in government, some of my fastest and most effective learning came from working in the underground bunker known as the Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms, or COBR. This time taught me a huge amount about the way people work under pressure, and how a world class response to threats to life comes about by hard work and commitment, not by accident.

Update on the Young People's Programme

As our Young People's Programme comes to an end in spring 2015, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved since its launch.

Over the last two years we have worked with partners to improve and develop the local response for young people who experience interpersonal violence. This has included training Young People's Violence Advisors (YPVAs), providing regional support and encouraging those responsible for local domestic violence strategies to acknowledge young people's needs.

New research highlights the range of complex needs faced by young people experiencing relationship abuse

Many of the young people who experience relationship abuse have complex needs, often do not live in a safe environment and are from troubled families, early findings from the Young People's Programme show. Anna Williams, our Research Analyst for the programme, explains more:

Young People's Violence Advisors (YPVAs) and other practitioners have been collecting data for the last six months to learn more about the young people they work with and how their support has helped make them safer.
