Support for children and young people through specialist, age appropriate services

Domestic abuse has a devastating impact on children. Our research shows at the time they start school, at least one child in every classroom will have experienced domestic abuse since they were born.1

Young people need support to recognise what a healthy relationship looks like, especially when they’ve already experienced or witnessed abuse in the home. With support tailored to young people’s needs, we can break the patterns of abuse for good.

The Children and Young People programme includes a range of interventions to fill the gaps and support children and young people who have witnessed, or been exposed to, domestic abuse within their families. The focus of the pilot is for children and young people who are:

  • Pre-school (0-5)
  • In families who are staying together
  • Affected by the impact of domestic abuse on parenting
