Suzanne Jacob responds to the announcement that tackling VAWG will be added to the Strategic Policing Requirement

We welcome the Home Office announcement that tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) will be added to the Strategic Policing Requirement, and given the same priority as terrorism, organised crime and child sexual abuse.
The plans are a really important step and must come with significant funding to drive the fundamental systemic and societal change that is essential to stopping violence against women and girls.
We need a holistic response which looks at prevention alongside support for adult and child victims and challenging perpetrators.
