Appointment of Ellen Miller, Interim CEO

23rd November 2022

In autumn 2022 we announced that our CEO Suzanne Jacob, OBE would be taking parental leave from January 2023.

Following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process, we are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ellen Miller as interim CEO.

Ellen started her career in strategy and commissioning roles in local government, before being appointed CEO of Lancaster and District Women’s Aid and Blackpool Advocacy. Ellen has also worked as Director of Services at Victim Support, and most recently was CEO of Versus Arthritis.

Isabel Boyer, Chair of SafeLives said, “Ellen brings a wealth of experience of working in the public and charity sector at a leadership level, and she impressed the appointment panel with her combination of expertise, sector knowledge, and genuine commitment to centring lived experience. We are all very much looking forward to working with Ellen when she joins us on 3 January 2023.

“On behalf of everyone at SafeLives I would also like to take this opportunity to offer Suzanne our very best wishes as she starts her parental leave at the end of the year, and we look forward to welcoming her back next year.”

Ellen Miller said, “As a long-standing supporter of SafeLives’ work I am really pleased to be joining a team of talented colleagues who are passionately committed to ending domestic abuse. This is a particularly difficult time for victim survivors and for frontline services, who are facing a range of challenges relating to the cost of living crisis. There is much work to be done, and I’m looking forward to getting started and providing support and leadership over the coming months.”
