Course overview

Our Safety planning for domestic abuse training in Scotland is designed to enhance knowledge of safety planning for domestic abuse cases.

Safety planning aims to manage the risk to people at risk of or experiencing domestic abuse, and to increase their safety. A safety plan can be one of the most important steps in increasing safety outcomes for victims. It can help victims and their children to plan in advance what they could do in the case of future violence or domestic abuse.

This is an open course which is available to any professionals or volunteers who are looking to strengthen and deepen their understanding of domestic abuse.

This course will focus on:

  • How to respond in a supportive manner to people experiencing domestic abuse
  • Safety planning options for people experiencing domestic abuse, whether they stay in a relationship with the perpetrator or leave
  • Referral options for specialist support services in Scotland, and mainstream services that can support
  • The Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018
  • Information sharing and your obligations under relevant data protection legislation.

The training is suitable for professionals or volunteers working with victims of domestic abuse. 

Price

Open course = £60 per learner
In-house = £800 (online) or £1200 (F2F) for groups of up to 24 learners
