Time commitment
This training is delivered online via Zoom, across four different blocks with a total of 12 training days (09:30 – 16:30).
There are also 4 adjoining assessments to complete taking around 2.5 days each to complete, all of which must be done in learners own study time.
Further information including details about the course structure can be found in our FAQs about Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy (Idaa) training.
Eligibility
The Idaa course is specifically tailored to those practicing within the domestic abuse sector in Scotland, with the relevant knowledge and experience outlined below.
This is not an entry level course and the broad range of topics covered means it is only suitable for practitioners with at least six months of experience in managing a domestic abuse caseload in previous or current roles. Entry to this course assumes that you already have an awareness of the dynamics of domestic abuse and how your role fits into a multi-agency response to domestic abuse.
If you are new to supporting people experiencing domestic abuse, an application should not be made until you have at least six months experience.
If you are providing support to victims in a voluntary capacity, this course is also unlikely to be suitable for you. We do however, offer alternative introductory training on Understanding Domestic Abuse in Scotland, Young Persons & Relationship Abuse and DASH Risk Assessment as well as specialist training on Marac Representatives and Marac Chairs.
If you have any doubts about whether you are eligible for the training, please get in touch with our team via [email protected].
Price
£1,852 per learner (includes registration fees with SQA)
There are not currently any subsidies available for the Idaa training course.
