Our counter allegations training aims to support you to:

  • Understand counter allegations in the context of domestic abuse.
  • Recognise key terminology and the dynamics of abusive relationships.
  • Identify the primary perpetrator in situations involving counter allegations.
  • Respond appropriately when perpetrators present themselves as victims.

Course overview

SafeLives 1 day continued professional development course is made up of specialist content focusing on responding effectively to counter allegations. The course aims to build your confidence to understand how to best respond when both parties allege abuse.

The course is designed as further development following the Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Abuse: Prevention and Early Intervention, which covers the core domestic abuse knowledge you would want as a domestic abuse professional.

Topics include:

  • Typologies of abuse
  • Common behaviours and tactics of perpetrators posing as victims
  • Identifying the primary perpetrator
  • Responding to counter allegations
  • Effective MARAC responses to counter allegations

 

This course is aimed at domestic abuse professionals who currently carry an active caseload of domestic abuse victims and are qualified IDVAs, YPVAs, or OPVAs.

Time commitment

The course is one day (9:30 am – 4:30 pm) online via Zoom.

Eligibility

You must be working with victims of domestic abuse to complete this course. (Preferably a qualified IDVA).

This course is £100 per learner
