SafeLives welcomes the new Government, and a new chance to transform the response to domestic abuse
Ellen Miller, Chief Executive of SafeLives, said:
We welcome the new Government and a new chance to tackle domestic abuse and all forms of violence against women and girls.
Congratulations to all candidates who won today, including Jess Phillips, an unwavering voice for women’s rights and decency in politics, on holding her seat – and to former SafeLives staffers Jess Asato and Antonia Bance.
This is a huge opportunity to work together to prevent domestic abuse, address risk, challenge perpetrators and support recovery.
Today, know that we will do all we can to put the authentic voice of survivors at the heart of policy-making and to support vital frontline practitioners and services.
Let’s invest to end domestic abuse, think big about systems change and make sure ALL survivors have dedicated support to help them reach safety, recover and rebuild.
Together, we can transform the response for the whole family.
With 79,000 adult victims of domestic abuse at high risk of being seriously harmed or killed in the last year alone, there is no time to waste.
