Our Young Persons & Relationship Abuse training in Scotland will aim to:

  • Increase your understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and how it is different for young people
  • Encourage you to consider how adolescence impacts on a young person’s behaviours
  • Help you to understand the key risk factors to serious harm
  • Consider how to safety plan in a multi-agency context

Course overview

This is an open course which is available to any professionals or volunteers who are looking to widen they knowledge of how domestic abuse differs for young people and how to improve professional response to make young people safer.

This course will focus on:

  • Current research findings in relation to the prevalence and nature of domestic abuse between young people.
  • Young people’s development and the potential impact on their experiences of abuse.
  • Developing skills in assessing risk and safety planning using the YP DASH
  • Key skills and principles in working with young people, both victims and those that cause harm.
  • How domestic abuse intersects with other issues and risks for young people.
