Our Scotland: Safety Planning and the Marac Process Training will equip you with the essential skills needed to:

  • Consider best practice when safety planning with people experiencing domestic abuse
  • Explore multi-agency responses to domestic abuse and appropriate referral pathways
  • Explore safe information-sharing in cases of domestic abuse
  • Provide an overview of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 and other legal responses to domestic abuse

Course overview

Our Safety planning and the Marac process training in Scotland is designed to enhance knowledge, skills and confidence for professionals who identify and refer high risk victims to Marac in Scotland.

Central to an effective Marac is the safeguarding of the victim and ensuring that the victim is appropriately supported with their needs represented. Safety planning aims to manage the risk to people at risk of or experiencing domestic abuse, and to increase their safety. This training will give you the skills and knowledge to provide appropriate safety plans for victims.

On our Safety planning and the Marac process training in Scotland you’ll also learn how to: 

  • Formulate a safety plan tailored to the risk for victims of domestic abuse
  • Signpost and refer to specialist domestic abuse services
  • Explain consent, data protection and the need for information sharing in domestic abuse cases
  • Understand legal responses and options for victims of domestic abuse

Time commitment

This workshop will consist of one half-day (3.5hr including break) online training workshop. The workshop will be facilitated via MS Teams and you will be expected to keep your camera on for the duration of the training.

Eligibility

Our Safety planning and the Marac process training in Scotland is suitable for professionals who identify and refer high risk victims to Marac. This workshop is aimed at those involved in the Marac process, either by referring victims or by attending meetings.

If you are a Marac representative who regularly attends meetings, the full day Marac representatives training is more applicable to you

Learners must be based in Scotland to be eligible for this course.

Having case examples to discuss in break out groups was really valuable. It was great to hear from other services too as you could really get an idea of what each agency could/would do under certain circumstances.
