Course overview

Our ‘Closed Doors’ – how to safety plan for South Asian women in Scotland training is designed for frontline professionals working with South Asian women who are experiencing domestic abuse in Scotland.

This is one of our newest training courses, which we developed with AMINA – Muslim Women’s Resource Centre.

This training provides frontline professionals with the skills and knowledge to put in place appropriate safety plans to manage the risk of South Asian Women at risk of harm from domestic abuse.

This is an open course which is available to professionals or volunteers who are looking to strengthen and deepen their understanding of risk and domestic abuse related to South Asian women.

This course will focus on:

  • Respond in a safe and supportive manner to minority ethnic woman experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Safety planning options for minority ethnic women experiencing domestic abuse, whether they stay in a relationship with the perpetrator or leave.
  • Referral options for specialist support services in Scotland, and mainstream services that can support.
  • The impact of having no recourse to public funds.
  • Information sharing and your obligations under relevant data protection legislation.

This training is a half day online course via Zoom.

Eligibility

This training is suitable for professionals or volunteers working with victims of domestic abuse, and is especially beneficial for those who work with South Asian women who are experiencing domestic abuse in Scotland.

Learners must be based in Scotland to be eligible for this course.

Price

£45 per learner for the half day course.
