Scotland VAWG strategic review: response

Response to the call for evidence for Scotland’s independent strategic review of funding and commissioning of violence against women and girls services

The Scottish Government announced an independent review in 2021 of funding and commissioning of violence against women and girls services. Its aim was to ‘develop of a more consistent, coherent, collective and stable funding model that will ensure high quality, accessible specialist services across Scotland for women, children and young people experiencing any form of VAWG’.

In our response we submitted evidence on the need for

  • listening to victims and survivors and embed the learning into system design
  • a whole system approach
  • fair and diverse access to funding
  • a set of minimum standards for VAWG services
  • perpetrator responses
  • a cultural shift and greater awareness-raising across our society about domestic abuse
