Our training supports professionals to recognise the signs of domestic abuse, understand the issues, and respond quickly and effectively when a victim needs help.

Domestic abuse training with SafeLives

Our team are domestic abuse experts, with backgrounds in practice. National and local data from SafeLives research and evaluation team informs all our activities, with a dedicated Marac data team to provide up to date quarterly and annual data to track trends nationally and locally.

We have a diverse group of associate trainers and expert guest speakers who work with us to provide bespoke training packages that are relevant and practical.

As well as supporting specialist domestic abuse practitioners, we also work alongside employers, police forces, local authorities and police and crime commissioners to strengthen their responses to domestic abuse.  Our clients include SH:24, NatWest banking group, Aviva, Manchester City Council, Hestia, and Nacro.

We believe that the voice of those with lived experience should influence every aspect of our work and we work with a team of pioneers to ensure that this happens. We combine our practice experience, the voice of those with lived experience and national and local data from the SafeLives research and evaluation team to ensure we offer the very best service to you.

SafeLives recognises that delegates will bring varying levels of knowledge and experience and we use a mixture of teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles and preferences. In addition to trainer-led sessions, we use multi-media resources, case studies and reflective exercises to ensure that every individual is catered for. Our aim is to provide the optimum learning experience for everybody involved.

Our trainers are passionate experts. Every year they train hundreds of people to offer better support to victims. We run the flagship Idva qualification and have trained thousands of Idvas since we were founded. We also offer highly regarded continuing professional development (CPD) courses, helping everyone who works to stop domestic abuse.

For those working in Wales, all SafeLives training fits within the National Training Framework.

All the courses we run in Scotland have been specifically adapted for professionals working in the country.
