SafeLives and On Our Radar awarded Comic Relief funding to create a digital platform for young survivors

We are pleased to announce that SafeLives, with our partner On Our Radar have been awarded funding by Comic Relief to develop a digital platform where  young people with experience of domestic abuse will be able to safely share their stories and enable them to recognise abusive behaviour in their relationships.

We are thrilled to have been awarded this funding from Comic Relief with our partners at On Our Radar. We know young people can be ‘hidden’ from support, and often don’t recognise abuse for what it is - wary of not being believed, of being misunderstood or blamed.

This project will be co-created by young survivors, for young survivors, and we hope that user-led development will result in an innovative platform to help young people learn from each other and share their stories in a safe place.

Liz Thompson, Director of External Relations at SafeLives,

On Our Radar is a communications agency for the unheard and marginalised and their aim is to work with communities to support them tell their stories in their own way.

Libby Drew, Director at On Our Radar, is excited about the potential of this partnership to open up an honest discussion around youth and domestic abuse

Young voices are essential to understanding the full extent of domestic abuse and the impact it has on lives. Yet, too often, young people are missing from the conversation and invisible within services and solutions. This collaboration will be a chance for them to lead and shine a light on the issue from where they stand, in their own words, in their own way.
