Marac toolkit for police
A handy guide with template forms that explains how the process works, how to attend and how to refer
This practical toolkit has been created to support police and domestic abuse police officers to:
- understand how the Marac process works and the role their agency plays at the meeting
- make effective referrals to Marac using the Dash risk identification checklist
- prepare for attending a Marac meeting.
In your role as a police officer, you are dealing with the emergency response to domestic violence and its follow up investigation and support. Your Marac should represent an important additional resource for you. You will be able to work closely with a range of agencies, including your Idva service, to ensure that an effective safety plan is implemented. The Idva will also support the victim through the process of being a witness in a criminal case and encourage them to report further offences, and breach of bail conditions or restraining orders.
